Prafulla Bhaina as he is lovingly called by all of us was the main pillar of the 30 years Reunion at Rourkela. Never short of prompt and befitting jokes and anecdotes, he also had tried hard in visiting Cuttack and Bhubaneswar earlier to convince friends to join the meet.

Somehow the response to the meet was lukewarm from friends. As time passed by the expected number of participants started falling alarmingly. Our hope to have some 30 odd members to join was dahed by mid-September. Others on whom we had full confidence of attending like Bibhuti Mohapatra, Bibhuti Pradhan, Bidhu Mohanty, Krishna Pattanaik, Pratap Mohanta, Hemanta Kumar Kar, Santosh Behera, Badri Biswal, Bijoy Mohanty, Golak Behera, Madhuri Purohit, Susama Sahoo, Partha Jena, Pradipta Das, Ajoy Mishra and Bipin Mohanty backed out for personal reasons some from the outset and some at the last moment. It had its effects on amature organisers like us but with encouragement from some friends from different places we gathered courage to somehow hold to the dates and have som face-saving get-together on 12th and 13th November 2005 at Rourkela. Not many people turned up, but somehow the number crossed twenty. A list of participants with their phone numbers follows this publication.

We five have met here and have come up with a tentative programme where we have decided to take you on sight-seeing to near by tourist places like Mandira Dam, Indira Gandhi Park, Hanuman Vatika ,the Vedvyas temple and the recently developed Vaishno Devi temple on the hill-top. We are also arranging to celebrate silver jubilee marriage anniversary of friends that fall in calendar year 2005 during the meet and also celebrate the same of those who have already completed it. Rourkela being far off from main-stream Orissa, we are contemplating you to meet some senior and junior friends from MKCG Medical College working here during lunch or dinner time only once.

We expect you to arrive here on 11th November morning/evening or 12th morning and leave by 13th evening/night or 14th morning. We have negotiated with Hotel Deepti, Rourkela for accommodation of friends and their families and also their sprawling lawn by the side of the hotel for the get-together function. In order to cover the costs we request you to send us Rs.5000/- per family as participation charges. We hope to open an account soon in the joint names of Usha and Niyati and will let you know the details of draft you need to make. While having the Silver Jubilee Meet at Puri in December 2000, we decided to have the next get-together at Rourkela. Accordingly in consulatation with friends at Cuttack and Bhubaneswar it was decided to have it on 12th and 13th of November- the 2nd Saturday and Sunday of the month. In April 2005 a request letter to all friends whose address could be collected was sent with a clear message to intimate others they are in touch with and send the address and phone numbers. A copy of the letter follows this publication.
