Dr. Rabindranath Mohapatra, our batchmate in MKCG Medical College passed away on 19th July 2014. He had served in various capacities the Government of Odisha in the department of Health & Family Welfare ranging from 1979 to 2012. He had superannuated as Medical Superintendent of TB & Infectious Disease Hospital, Puri on 31st January 2012. He had mostly served at CHC, Salepur, Baramba, the Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar, ADMO, Public Health of Puri District and lastly as MS of TB & Infectious Disease Hospital, Puri. After retirement he was working in Kanungo Diabetic Specility Hospital, Dumduma, Bhubaneswar.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son. One of his daughters is suffering from CRF for which he was very concerened. He developed encephalitis like symptoms around a month back and was admitted to KIDS Diabetes Hospital. He was later transferred to SUM Hospital where he was treated under the guidance of a neurologist. During this period he was visited by Dr. Ashok Mahapatra, our batchmate and Director of AIIMS, Bhubaneswar twice. About 2 weeks prior to his untimely demise his family decided to take him home as there was no improvement in his condition. He was in a stuporous condition and was being tubefed. Unfortunately 8 days prior to his death, his mother passed away and he breathed his last on 19th July 2014. One of the most unassuming and undemanding personalities of our batch, Rabindranath has gone through life in one of the severest forms and the family is devastated and shattered.
No amount of our consolation can help this family, but lets all resolve to pray God to rest Rabindranath's soul in peace and help his family overcome this great loss.
Sad demise of Rabi is deeply regretted. For very amicable but subdued personality, he is still afresh in my mind. Thanx Sada for tracking lifelines of all of us.
