Sarala leaves us

  I

An obituary note by Sri Manjit  Hota
In the memory of My mother: Dr Sarala Debi
She was a caring, supportive, and loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and moreover our best friend. She was born in the year 1951 in a middle-class family in Cuttack and was the eldest of five children. As student, she was generally very good in academics. Mathematics was her strong point and later on was our mathematics teacher during our studies too. She completed her schooling in Board school and undergraduate in Shailabala Women's College. She then joined Ravenshaw college for Mathematics honors program for a short time and later joined MBBS after getting admission in MKCG medical college. I am sure all of her classmates would have wonderful memories with her.
I would like to pen down few words to celebrate the life of a remarkable woman, my mother Dr.Sarala Debi.
Post completion of degree she started working in a private facility in Cuttack for few years and then got married. We are blessed to
have a family with myself and two elder sisters. For us she was and always will be a symbol of patience and sacrifice. She always tried to prioritize family so sacrificed her career for the kids. She was always calm when there were problems and took control of the situation when demanded. She was very foody and undoubtedly the best cook we know.
I have lost my wonderful mother, companion and adviser. I am so honored to have been her son. I am grieving for the amazing
relationship I had with her, for my father who has lost the best wife it is possible to have had, for her grandchildren who have only known this wonderful grandmother for such a short time in their life, for my wife who lost her mother like mother in law, for my sisters
who have lost a true friend. We have all suffered a huge loss.

She taught us all what is really important in life - to love, support and care for friends and family in our lives. It was a great privilege to be her son.
Thank you all once again for supporting our family in these difficult times.
Regards,
 Manjit Hota

Nabin Chandra Behera- An obituary by Prafulla

Nabin Chandra Behera Dr.
With heavy heart we all the classmates of Dr Nabin Chandra Behera express heartfelt condolences on his sad  and sudden demise . 28th September became a black day for us. In the early morning Nabin left for his heavenly abode leaving behind his dearest wife Sachala, his loving daughters , family members, relatives and all of us.

I vividly remember Nabin was my group mate and closely associated with me beside  the dissection table in Anatomy department of MKCG Medical college in 1970. I recollect the memories of my first MBBS days with him. He preferred to read Cunningham's Anatomy book and guide us in dissection of cadaver. He was good at English and very intelligent and extremely polite and sober. He used to call me bhaina. During housemanship he selected Sachala Panigrahi for his life partner . Incidentally she was from my home district.
In 1980 I met Nabin and his  family  in a restaurant in Baripada . It was a pleasant surprise for me when he called me from behind . After a long gap we had a nice time for chatting.
At that time he was working in SD Hospital Udala , and Sachala was pursuing her Homeopathy practice.
Few years back I had again an opportunity to talk to him over phone and learned that he had settled near Bhadrak railway station.
I sincerely pray for his eternal soul to attain peace at lotus feet of Lord Jagannath. May God provide enough patience to his family to bear this irreparable great loss.
