Nabin Behera is no more

  

With heavy heart we all the classmates of Dr Nabin Chandra Behera express heartfelt condolences on his sad  and sudden demise . 28th September became a black day for us. In the early morning Nabin left for his heavenly abode leaving behind his dearest wife Sachala,his loving daughters , family members,relatives and all of us.

 I vividly remember Nabin was my group mate and closely associated with me beside  the dissection table in Anatomy department of MKCG Medical college in 1970. I recollect the memories of my first MBBS days with him. He preferred to read Cunningham's Anatomy book and guide us in dissection of cadaver. He was good at English and very intelligent and extremely polite and sober. He used to call me bhaina. During housemanship he selected Sachala Panigrahi for his life partner . Incidentally she was from my home district.

In 1980 I met Nabin and his  family  in a restaurant in Baripada . It was a pleasant surprise for me when he called me from behind . After a long gap we had a nice time for chatting. 

At that time he was working in SD Hospital Udala , and Sachala was pursuing her Homeopathy practice.

Few years back I had again an opportunity to talk to him over phone and learned that he had settled near Bhadrak railway station. 

I sincerely pray for his eternal soul to attain peace at lotus feet of Lord Jagannath. May God provide enough patience to his family to bear this irreparable great loss.

Braja passes away

Braja Mohan Dash was a very good student who lost his mother rather early and was brought up by his grand mother. Always received National Schollarship till he finished his studies in MKCG Medical College and decided to join the Services in Permanent Commission. After superannuation from the Army he decided not to work any more and spent most of his time with his two children- a son and a daughter and their respective families - son and family in Bangalore and daughter and family in Bhubaneswar. Off late, just before COVID broke out he was acutely sick and was being treated at Manipal Hospital, Bangalore. Today morning at 910 AM he passed away in the residence of his son Yangyavalka in Bangalore. His daughter and family have already left for Bangalore for the last rites. May his soul rest in peace and may God provide enough courage to his wife and family enough courage to bear the great loss.

Nikunja is no more with us

COVID has done some irrepairable damages and one more such happened today when Nikunja passed away in Aswini Hospital, Cuttack. Had diabetes, heart problems and had undergone renal transplant, but as human beings we had expected him to survive. This didn't happen and we pray God to provide all courage to his family to overcome the loss. May his soul rest in peaace.

Google Meet on14th June- a report by Upendra

Here is briefly what we did in the Google Meet of our batchmates last evening, in which Ajay Upadhyaya, Bidhu, Pradipta, Bijay, Bibhuti(P), Mahesh, Rashmi, Laxminibas, Badri, Baikuntha and I participated.

1. We discussed a lot on the possible factors responsible for Sushant Rajput's suicide. Ajay Upadhyaya gave us valuable insights into the possibilities and briefed us on the possible psychological implications of the Corona pandemic. Some of us were inquisitive about the possible influence of Covid-19 on his suicide. Others were keen to find out if this could be used as a learning experience for use in real life situations. 

2. Badri suggested that we should have a regular pre-decided schedule of these meets so that one could plan to join them. It was the majority opinion to continue holding them impromptu till we get over the initial hiccups.

3. I suggested that we should have a web site for our batchmates where we could show case anything and everything that we wish to share with each other, with our extended circles and lastly with the whole world in a much more presentable, non-perishable and easily accessible format. It will also allow us to use more useful functionalities of the Google Meet. The possibilities will be ever-expanding. All present were very enthusiastic about this suggestion and I volunteered to make a modest beginning in this direction. I shall be very soon soliciting inputs from all our batchmates for a successful outcome in this endeavour.

4. Other than the above, for the larger part of the meeting, we had a lot of guli-khatti and enjoyed each other's virtual company.

5. We ended with a resolution to meet again as soon as possible. Overall, it was fantastic. That should stimulate more numbers to join next time.

Hemanta Chandra Kar passed away on 28th March 2020

Dr Hemanta Chandra Kar ,our dear friend has departed for his heavenly abode. And the sad news has left us in shock. He was my room mate in MKCG Medical college..His sweet manners, honesty,loving words and a crystal clear heart were unique of his personality . His untimely departure  has created a vacuum. I pray God to bless the bereaved family with great patience to bear the irreplaceable loss.
